Custom server for 8 beat Story♪

8bs-cs makes 8 beat Story♪ playable again, as it existed upon termination of service.

Registration

This is a private server.
To register to play, please email the server admin to request a registration code.
The registration code can be used as your username to sign up.

Restoring an Account

Players must currently start from scratch with a new registration.

If interested in restoring an old account from a device that still has the game installed, please email the server admin to help gauge interest in this feature. If there's enough demand, a way to restore accounts may be developed in the future.
(If the game data has been deleted from your device, there is no way to restore any data.)

Recommended Installation Method (Android)

1. Obtain an APK file of 8 beat Story♪ (jp.app.ebs) version 2.3.15 from an APK download website.
   Install it on a new device that does not already have the game installed. DO NOT open the game yet.

   Files with the following SHA256 checksums are believed to be okay:

   • a1bf5cacc3a2c1fa3f97d89b7c4e2e3e7ce3da4e789493ebc525f6015bdf08e9
   • 7a44031ca8e8dcbe36718bf605114745d62e5cae9fe4d6909a7fbfa97a417b07

2. Install an ad blocking application that allows setting custom redirects, such as AdAway.
   (Other DNS redirection/rewriting methods such as Pi-hole will also work)

   Redirect the following domains to the server IP address (given upon registration):

   • www2.8beatstory.jp
   • resource2.8beatstory.jp
   • chronusinc.jp
   • api.sdkbox.com
   • metrics.sdkbox.com

   (You may also wish to block/redirect Google Analytics, but this isn't really necessary)

3. Now open the game with the ad blocker running.

   Some screens such as the terms of service may not load, but the game should connect and play fine.

   If you face connection issues in the future, make sure the server IP address hasn't changed. Update it if necessary.

Recommended Installation Method (iOS)

iOS has not been tested yet. An IPA file is available upon request.

In-App Purchases

If you find any in-app purchases, do not use them. 8bs-cs currently has no control over the game's payments system, so purchases cannot be supported.

Privacy

8bs-cs collects and stores information relating to your use of 8 beat Story♪. This mainly comprises records of your application usage, including gameplay progress. However, it also includes additional information such as your smartphone/tablet model and IP address.

Information will not be sold or shared with any third party, except as necessary to provide service. For example, hosting companies may be able to access data that is stored on their servers or log HTTP traffic.

If uncomfortable with the above, please refrain from using 8bs-cs.

Affiliation with 8 beat Space

8 beat Space shared the domain name and provided some assistance in hosting setup for this 8bs-cs server. However, the server software is developed and maintained separately.

Please do not contact the main 8 beat Space admin in regards to the game server.
